The second-ranked UCLA women's water polo team overpowered sixteenth ranked UCSD, winning 21-3 on Friday evening at the Canyonview Pool on the campus of UC San Diego. In the last two games, the Bruins have outscored their opponents 42-6, having also defeated Long Beach State by the exact same score on Thursday.
In what seems like typical Bruin fashion, UCLA jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Bruins scored the first twelve goals of the game. Kelly Rulon led all scorers with five goals, tying the UCLA record. Brittany Rowe added four goals, and five other Bruins had at least two.
With the victory, the team improved to 17-1 on the year, while the Tritons fell to 8-9 on the season.
UCLA will take a week off for finals, but they return to action next Saturday (3/24) against Cal State Bakersfield at Sunset Canyon Recreation Center. The game is scheduled for 4:00 PM PST.
