UCLA's consensus No. 1 ranked women's golf team will play in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, Apr. 16-17, at the picturesque Ocean Course at Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
Winners of a nation-leading five tournaments, the Bruins are on pace to break the school record for team stroke average of 290.6 set in 2009. They also have not placed worse than second place in any tournament this season.
This week's lineup will consist of senior Brianna Do, juniors Tiffany Lua and Lee Lopez, sophomore Ani Gulugian and freshman Erynne Lee. Lopez, Lee and Lua are ranked third, fourth and seventh nationally, respectively, by GolfStat. Gulugian is ranked 33rd and Do 66th.
Lopez leads the team with a scoring average of 72.1 in 24 rounds and nine rounds under par. She also boasts seven Top 20 results in eight starts, six of which were Top 10 finishes. Lua and Lee are next, averaging 72.3. Lee boasts five Top 10 results in seven starts and Lua has six, including a T3 at the Bruins' last event, the PING/ASU Invitational. Gulugian, who won the PING/ASU event for her first collegiate tournament title, dropped her stroke average to 73.1 after finishing at one-under par 212. Finally, Do is averaging 73.6.
A new event on the Bruins' schedule, the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate features a strong field, including third-ranked USC, No. 14 Cal, 16th-ranked Oklahoma State and No. 19 Arizona. Tournament play begins on Mon., Apr. 16 with an 8 a.m. shotgun start for 36 holes. The Ocean Course will play to a par of 72 over 6,034 yards.
