Freshman diver Paulina Guzman finished 22nd on three-meter at the 2011 Canada Cup Grand Prix Meet being held April 28th-May 1st in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Guzman's score of 208.55 was not enough to qualify her to the PanAm Games being held this October, but it was her highest score in international competition. She will have additional chances to earn her mark this summer participating in the USA Diving calendar.
"Paulina looked great coming into the meet," said dive coach Tom Stebbins. "I think the late travel and the fact that she became very nervous once the contest started hurt her performance today. I have seen great improvement in the physical aspects of Pau's diving, and over time that will bode very well for future success. She just isn't quite ready to really let it fly out there yet."
The UCLA Diving team will now turns its focus to this summer's Zone qualifying meet in July (15-17) and the AT+T US Senior National Diving Championships, which will be held at the Spieker Aquatics Center in August (8-14).
