The morning began in a bit of a blur to be honest. We left the hotel like every morning, to catch the shuttle at 6:15 am. It was pouring rain and the chances that they begin on time were somewhat comical. Actually, they would not let us off the bus because it was a dangerous situation. So, we went back to the hotel for a couple of hours. It began to clear up and the matches were on.
Play began by mid-afternoon with the Americans behind in every match. It would be nice to say that the Americans made a monumental comeback, but at the end of the day the Europeans were just tough. They were not going to give any ground back to us. The momentum shifts very fast and will stay with a team. I felt like there were several crucial moments for the Americans to make a charge, but it just was not the day.
It was breezy with some gusty winds at times, or a couple of quick showers, but overall it was a grind. All day long the U.S. just did not have the momentum.
We must play well in the morning to win! We can do it in the singles.
All the best from room 222.
Go USA!, Go Bruins!
