BERKELEY, Calif. - The UCLA baseball team dropped a 7-6 decision in 10 innings at No. 15 California in the regular-season finale Sunday afternoon before 1,062 fans at Evans Diamond. California (33-19-2, 12-12 Pac-10) overcame a 6-4 deficit in the ninth inning, and second baseman Josh Satin belted a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 10th to win the game.

Despite losing Sunday's game, UCLA (31-25, 13-11 Pac-10) concluded its regular season finishing in third in the Pac-10. The Bruins erased a 4-0 deficit in the top of the eighth on a pinch-hit grand slam by Casey Haerther before assuming a 6-4 lead with two runs in the top of the ninth. With the one out and the bases loaded, first baseman Cody Decker laced a single through the left side of the infield to score two runners.

California responded in the bottom of the ninth with a leadoff solo homer by Blake Smith and an RBI-double by Mark Canha. Smith finished the ballgame 3-for-4 with two home runs, and Satin was 3-for-4 with a game-high three runs, two walks and one RBI. Smith (3-0) moved from the outfield to pitch, hurling 2.2 innings in relief to earn his third victory of the season.

California led 4-0 after seven innings, scoring once in each of the second, fourth, sixth and seventh frames.

Left-hander Brendan Lafferty (3-3) absorbed the loss, surrendering three runs and five hits in 2.2 innings. The Bruins used five pitchers in the 10-inning contest.

UCLA will await the NCAA baseball committee's selection of the 64-team field for the NCAA Tournament. The college baseball NCAA Tournament selection show will air Monday at 9:30 a.m. (PT) on ESPN.
