UCLA Travels to Malibu, Returns Home to Face Hawai'i
The sixth-ranked UCLA women's soccer team (3-1-1) has a pair of matches on its plate this week, traveling to Pepperdine (1-4-1) this Friday before heading home to host Hawai'i (5-0-1) on Sunday. Action gets underway at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, as the Bruins and Waves will meet for the 13th time in the history of the series. UCLA, which owns a 10-match winning streak over Pepperdine, takes a 10-2 record into the matchup. The Bruins lost their first two meetings with the Waves before beginning the current 10-match streak, which includes a 3-0 victory last season. UCLA will return home on Sunday to host Hawai'i at Drake Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m. The Bruins take a 4-0 series lead into that matchup, which is the first meeting between the two schools since 2002 (a 2-0 UCLA win in Hawai'i). Live stats will be available for both matches. Live internet radio will be available for Sunday's match against Hawai'i.

Bruins Tie San Diego, Down Cal State Northridge Last Week
UCLA began the week with a scoreless tie against San Diego on Friday evening at Torero Stadium in San Diego. Despite out-shooting the Toreros 24-6 on the evening, the Bruins failed to find the back of the net in the double-overtime contest. UCLA bounced back strong on Sunday, as a pair of goals from forward Lauren Cheney helped the Bruins to a 3-1 victory over Cal State Northridge. UCLA also had a goal from Caitlyn Mac Kechnie, as the Bruins improved to 3-1-1 on the season.

Bruins Remain at No. 6 in This Week's NSCAA/adidas Rankings
For the second straight week UCLA is ranked No. 6 in the NSCAA/adidas Coaches' Poll released every Tuesday. The Bruins check in at No. 7 and No. 9 in rankings listed by Soccer Buzz and Soccer America respectively. UCLA began the season as high as No. 3 in NSCAA/adidas.

MacMillan to be Inducted Into Oregon Sports Hall of Fame
UCLA assistant coach Shannon MacMillan joins seven other outstanding athletes who will be inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame on Sept. 25. MacMillan was a four-time All-American at the University of Portland from 1992-95. She won the Hermann Trophy and was named the Missouri Athletic Club's National Player of the Year in 1995.

Kara Lang Canada Update
Kara Lang helped the Canadian National Team defeat Ghana 4-0 on Sept. 15, keeping the Canucks in contention for a quarterfinal berth at the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup in China. Canada, which suffered a 2-1 loss to Norway in its opening match of the tournament, will face Australia on Sept. 19. They need a win to move on past group play, although a draw would be good enough only if Ghana defeats Norway. Lang, who has started both matches in China, could be back in a Bruin uniform at the earliest on Sept. 28, as UCLA faces Portland at home that evening. More information about the FIFA Women's World Cup can be found at: www.fifa.com
