LOS ANGELES - The No. 1 UCLA women's water polo team extended its winning streak to nine matches with an 8-6 victory over No. 4 Arizona State in an MPSF match Saturday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Center.

KK Clark led the Bruins (15-1, 4-0 MPSF) with three goals, and Emily Greenwood added two, including the game-winner, on a cold and rainy afternoon at UCLA.

Alicia Brightwell scored a game-high four goals to pace the visiting Sun Devils (16-3, 2-1 MPSF).

Trailing 5-4 at halftime, UCLA outscored Arizona State by a 3-0 margin in the third quarter to secure a 7-5 cushion and led the rest of the way, as each team traded goals in the final period.

Arizona State jumped to a 1-0 lead when Brightwell scored a power-play goal with 3:16 left in the opening quarter, before UCLA equalized when Sarah Orozco drew a penalty and Clark converted the ensuing penalty shot. ASU led UCLA, 2-1, after the first quarter as Anna Kertes found the back of the cage with 32 seconds left in the period.

Brightwell put Arizona State ahead, 3-1, at the start of the second quarter. UCLA drew another penalty, and Clark stepped up and converted the penalty shot, slicing ASU's lead to 3-2 at the 7:01 mark in the second quarter.

Back-to-back goals from Mariam Salloum and Brightwell pushed ASU's cushion to 5-2 with 5:09 left before halftime. UCLA responded with goals from Becca Dorst and Hannah Sebenaler to reduce the Sun Devils' lead to 5-4 by intermission.

Clark tied the match, 5-5, with her third goal of the game at 7:01 in the third quarter. Greenwood scored on a 6-on-5 opportunity with 3:44 left in the quarter to put the Bruins ahead, 6-5. Greenwood followed just 40 seconds later with another goal to give UCLA a 7-5 lead.

Arizona State reduced the Bruins' advantage to 7-6 on Brightwell's fourth goal of the game midway through the final quarter. Orozco answered quickly for UCLA, scoring with just 2:35 left to go in the quarter.

UCLA goalkeeper Caitlin Dement recorded seven saves in the cage. Arizona State's Ianeta Hutchinson was credited with five stops.

UCLA returns to action at No. 14 Hawaii on Saturday, March 31. Game time is 6 p.m. (HT)/9 p.m. (PT) at Hawaii's Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex in Honolulu.
