Katy Viuf and Lindsay Rowe led the Bruin women on the final day of the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational as both posted event wins on Saturday.

Viuf, who was making her 2010 outdoor debut in the vault, battled teammate Tori Pena in a jump-off to win the event. Both women cleared every bar on their first attempts. Viuf upped the bar to 14-0, while Pena passed at the height. Viuf did not clear the bar, effectively putting Pena in the driver seat to win, but the senior could not clear 14-2 and a jump-off ensued. Viuf cleared 14-0 on her first attempt, while Pena missed the bar, giving Viuf the victory in a solid pole vault competition. Viuf's mark is one of the top-10 vaults in the NCAA this season.

Also in the vault, freshman Karlye Marshall, who had placed second in the open vault on Friday with a season-best mark of 12-4, cleared a lifetime-best of 12-6.25 to finish fifth overall.

Rowe notched her second 100m hurdles win in as many days as she won the open race on Friday (13.53) and then the invite section on Saturday. The junior was competing against Olympic medalist Sheena Tosta and Rowe leaned at the finish to win by .01 seconds. Her time of 13.51 was a season-best mark and one of the top-15 marks in the NCAA this season.

Ashlea McLaughlin also had a big day as she ran a huge lifetime-best in the 400m to finish fourth overall. Her time of 53.32 improved upon her previous best of 54.05 (set at the Cal/Nevada Championships) and moves her to No. 5 in the NCAA this season. Joy Eaton, also in the invite 400m, finished eighth with a time of 55.70.

Shannon Murakami finished fourth in the invite mile with a time of 4:52.94. Krishna Curry ran a season-best 2:10.76 in the 800m to finish fourth overall. Ryann Krais was fourth in the 400m hurdles, running 60.06.

The 4x100m relay team of Nijah Nelms, Danielle Watson, Yasmin Woodruff and McLaughlin finished fourth overall as they equaled their season-best time of 45.66. The 4x400m relay team of Ryann Krais, Curry, Briana Barlow and McLaughlin ran a season-best 3:40.95 to finish third overall.

In the long jump, Watson finished fourth overall with a season-best mark of 20-9.25. That marks also moves her into the top-10 in the NCAA this season. Mariah Gibson had a big day in the high jump as she cleared a lifetime-best 5-8 to finish third overall. She came into the meet with a top mark of 5-6.

Catherine White also had a career day as she threw a lifetime-best in the shot put with a mark of 45-1.75 to finish fifth overall.

The women will next head to Gainesville, FL and the Tom Jones Memorial Classic next Saturday (April 17), while some athletes will stay local and compete at the Mt. SAC Relays.
