No. 2 Bruins Rout San Diego State, 5-1

Oct. 5, 2007

Box Score

San Diego, Calif. - Behind a pair of goals from sophomore Kristina Larsen, the second-ranked UCLA women's soccer team turned in one of its most dominating offensive performances of the season on Friday, defeating San Diego State, 5-1 at the SDSU Sports Deck. The Bruins, who tie the record for most goals scored at the SDSU Sports Deck, improve to 6-1-2 on the season. The Aztecs fall to 4-5-2.

UCLA got on the board early when All-American senior Danesha Adams took a pass from fellow All-American sophomore Lauren Cheney for her seventh goal of the season five minutes into the game.

The Bruins out shot the Aztecs 12-0 in the first half and tacked on their second goal at the 43:31 mark when Larsen rebounded junior Blake Zerboni's shot and found the back of the net for the first time this season.

The second half began much like the first with UCLA tallying two more goals. Sophomore Kara Lang, in her second game since returning from participating in the FIFA Women's World Cup as a member of team Canada, scored her third goal of the season at the 52:21 mark, while Cheney scored her team-leading ninth goal a minute later.

The Aztecs were able to create more scoring opportunities in the second half as they took six shots.

Jackie Ragudos hit on her team-leading fourth goal in the 61st minute as she scored on UCLA senior Ashley Thompson after rebounding a header from senior Jessica Girdner, who was attempting a shot after sophomore Megan Konishi's throw in.

With the pace quickened, Ragudos was able to get another shot off along with Konishi, freshmen Lauren N. Marquez and Brooke Holliday, as well as sophomore Millie Allen.

UCLA has one more match this week, hosting No. 5 Santa Clara at Drake Stadium on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
