No. 25-ranked UCLA (4-1, 1-1) and California (1-4. 0-2) will clash for the 83rd time when the two teams meet on Saturday in Berkeley. Johnathan Franklin, who ranks fourth in the nation in rushing after five games, tops all BCS Conference rushers with a 139.40 yards per game average. The Bruins lead the Pac-12 schools and rank fourth in the nation in turnovers gained, with 14, on nine interceptions and five fumble recoveries. Sheldon Price leads the nation with a 1.00 per game interception average (four thefts in his four games played).
In some news of the day -- The Senior Bowl all-star football game announced the addition of two Bruins, punter Jeff Locke and defensive lineman Donovan Carter to its watch list. Three defensive players -- cornerback Aaron Hester, defensive lineman Datone Jones and cornerback Sheldon Price -- and two offensive players -- running back Johnathan Franklin and Y receiver Joseph Fauria -- were previously recognized by the game's selection committee. The top 100 seniors in the country will be invited to participate in the 2013 Senior Bowl, set for Saturday, January 26th in Mobile's Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
