2007 Duals in the Desert
Palm Desert, Calif.

UCLA's Andrea Remynse and Elizabeth Lumpkin each won their respective draws at the Duals in the Desert Tournament held at the Moore Tennis Academy in Palm Desert, Calif. over the weekend.

In the Flight-II draw, Remynse defeated Fresno State's Danon Beatty, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals before earning a tough 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 decision against USC's Leyla Entekhabi in the semifinals. Remynse met teammate Yasmin Schnack in Sunday's final, winning 6-4, 6-4.

In the Flight-IV draw, Lumpkin defeated Clemson's Cristala Andrews, 7-6, 6-0 in Sunday's final. She had previously defeated Northwestern's Lauren Liu (3-6, 6-4, 6-3) and Baylor's Natalie Holmes (6-0, 6-2).

In doubles, Tracy Lin and Yasmin Schnack were also victorious, as the duo defeated Northwestern's Nazlie Ghazal/Suzie Matzenauer, 9-7 in the Flight-II final. Lin and Schnack, who were down 7-1 at one point, won eight straight games to eventually claim the title.

Lin, who was the Bruins' lone representative in the Flight-I singles draw, took fifth place when she defeated Vanja Corovic of Texas, 6-2, 6-4 in the consolation final.

Southern California Intercollegiates
LA Tennis Club

Bruin senior Jeremy Drean won the consolation title over the weekend at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships held at the Los Angeles Tennis Club.

Drean, who won four matches in the back draw, defeated UC Riverside's Joe Cartledge, 6-4, 6-2 on Sunday.

Harel Srugo and Nick Meister reached the semifinals in singles, and teamed together to reach the semifinals in doubles as well.

USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships
Columbus, Ohio

UCLA's Riza Zalameda was in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend competing at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by Ohio State University.

Zalameda, unseeded in the 32-player draw, fell in the first round to Baylor's Taylor Ormond, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. She fell in the consolation draw to Northwestern's Maria Mosolova.
