The fifth-ranked Bruins (10-0) head to the desert to take part in the Cathedral City Classic this weekend. UCLA will face #13 Georgia on Friday (5:30 p.m.), Fresno State (12:30 p.m.) and #8 Texas (3 p.m.) on Saturday and #11 Missouri (11 a.m.) and Syracuse (1 p.m.) on Sunday. The Bruins travel to the east coast next weekend for the Citrus Classic to be played at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. UCLA will face #12 Michigan (1:45 p.m.) and Fordham (4 p.m.) on Friday, March 2, #9 Baylor (7 a.m.) and #19 Auburn (9:15 a.m.) on Saturday, March 3 and Hofstra (6 a.m.) on Sunday, March 4. The Bruins continue their rise up the two national polls this week, moving into fifth in the Softball poll and seventh in the USA Today/NFCA rankings. UCLA earned 406 points in the USA Softball poll and has moved up eight spots since the preseason rankings. In the NFCA rankings, the Bruins received 546 points and have risen a dozen spots since the start of the year. UCLA is fourth in the preseason Pac-12 rankings, receiving 40 points.

The Bruins' 10-0 start marks the 12th time in program history that they have won at least 10 straight games to open a season. The last time UCLA had double digits in wins before its first loss was 2004 when it began the year 25-0.

Through the first two weekends, the Bruins lead all Pac-12 teams in batting average (.389), hits (114), doubles (28), total bases (185), earned run average (0.98) and opposing batting average (.161) ... UCLA has employed 10 different starting lineups this season ... the Bruins have trailed after just one inning this season (down 2-1 at Loyola Marymount after first) ... senior Katie Schroeder has a hit in all 10 games. She and senior Dani Yudin are the only Bruins to reach in all 10 contests this season ... six of the Bruins' 13 home runs have been leadoff homers. Nine of the 13 have been solo shots. The third inning has been the best for homers, as the Bruins have six. Also, six of their 13 jacks have been on the first pitch ... the Bruins have scored 32.9% of their runs with two outs (27-of-82) ... freshman Ally Carda has struck out at least five in four of her six appearances ... senior Marti Reed has a pair of two-RBI games (Kentucky - Feb. 11; at LMU - Feb. 14), the first two of her career ... senior Samantha Camuso has yet to strikeout this season in 33 plate appearances ... freshman Stephany LaRosa hit her first collegiate homer against Kentucky on Feb. 10 ... sophomore Jessica Hall has allowed no earned runs in five of her six appearances ... senior Andrea Harrison posted her seventh, two-homer game at LMU. Only Stacey Nuveman (12) has more two-homer contests for the Bruins. Harrison, who is sixth in UCLA history in homers (44) and one behind Julie Marshall for fifth, is also fourth in slugging (.663) and 11th in runs batted in (150) ... junior B.B. Bates has hits in eight of her 10 contests ... sophomore Kellie Fox tied a career high with three hits against Kentucky on Feb. 11 ... Schroeder ranks in the UCLA Top 10 in six categories. She is fourth in on base percentage (.470), tied for fifth in hit by pitches (20), seventh in stolen bases (37), tied for seventh in batting average (.374), tied for eighth in walks (90) and ninth in runs scored (152) ... junior Devon Lindvall appeared behind the plate for the first two times in her softball career against Pacific (Feb. 11) and Boise State (Feb. 17) ... Yudin had 14 RBI during a four-game stretch from Feb. 10-14.

The Bruins are 12-1 all-time against Georgia and have won seven in a row in the series. The last matchup between the teams was at the 2010 Women's College World Series (June 6), as UCLA won 5-2 to end the Bulldogs' season. The Bruins are 5-0 in neutral-site contests against Georgia, including a 5-2 victory at the 2008 Cathedral City Classic. Georgia's lone win against UCLA was a 4-1 triumph in the first game of a Super Regional at Easton Stadium on May 27, 2005 ... UCLA leads its series with Fresno State 43-10 and has won 14 in a row. The Bruins claimed a 7-2 decision in the last matchup on May 23, 2010 in the Regional Championship at Easton Stadium. UCLA is 18-3 in neutral-site contests, including a 10-2, six-inning win at the 2009 Cathedral City Classic. The Bulldogs' last victory in the series was a 1-0 triumph in Fresno on March 12, 2000 ... The Bruins are 9-3 against Texas and won the last matchup, a 9-1, six-inning decision at the 2010 Cathedral City Classic (Feb. 26). The teams also met at the 2005 edition, which the Longhorns won 3-0 in eight innings. The Bruins are 8-2 in neutral-site contests. Texas' last win in the series was a 1-0 victory in Tempe on Feb. 9, 2007 ... UCLA is 11-2 all-time against Missouri, but the Tigers' two wins were big, coming in the 2009 Super Regional at Easton Stadium to end the Bruins' season (9-1 in five on May 24; 2-1 on May 23). UCLA won the middle game of the Super 5-2 on May 24. The Bruins are 6-0 on neutral sites against the Tigers. The teams have never met at the CCC ... The Bruins are 4-1 against Syracuse, winning the last three matchups, including an 11-0, five-inning triumph in Lakewood on March 7, 2009. The Orange's lone win in the series was a 2-1 victory on Feb. 13, 2005 in Tempe. All four meetings have been at neutral sites.
