LOS ANGELES - After dropping the doubles point to San Diego State on Saturday, the sixth-ranked Bruin men's tennis team battled back to post a 5-2 victory over the Aztecs in a non-conference match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. With the win, UCLA moves to 4-2 overall, while SDSU remains winless on the year at 0-5.
SDSU pulled off the win in doubles by taking a pair of tiebreakers at court Nos. 2 and 3. The point was clinched at the No. 3 spot, where Andre Feliz and Tim Schulz van Endert bested Alex Brigham and Holden Seguso, 9-8(6). UCLA's lone win in doubles came at court No. 1, where Haythem Abid and Nick Meister posted an 8-3 victory Juan Gomez and Luis Rattenhuber.
UCLA completely controlled singles, winning five of the six matches contested. Wins by Abid (court No. 1), Matt Brooklyn (court No. 3) and Maxime Tabatruong (court No. 6) quickly gave the Bruins a 3-1 lead. Meister would clinch the win at court No. 4, downing Giovanni Vaglietti, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.
Next up for UCLA is a home match against UC Irvine on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
