The No. 1 ranked UCLA women's golf team secured the top seed in the NCAA West Regional Monday evening. The Bruins will play at Colorado National Golf Club, May 10-12.
Ranked atop all three polls most of the season, the Bruins have won a nation-leading six tournaments this season and will bring a wealth of experience into the regional championship. UCLA has won six NCAA regional championships and has posted 10 straight podium finishes. In addition, UCLA has won championships in all three regions and has produced five individual regional champions.
The Pac-12 conference was well represented in the regional selections: 10 of the 11 teams fielding women's golf in the league were selected to compete at various regional sites. Five Pac-12 teams will compete at Colorado National, including conference champion California.
The top eight teams and six best individuals not affiliated with those teams will advance to the 2012 NCAA Women's Golf Championship, May 22-25, at Vanderbilt's Legends Course in Franklin, TN.
UCLA has competed in 11 straight NCAA Championships, a school record.
