The third-ranked UCLA men's golf team was in third place after 36 holes of the U.S. Intercollegiates hosted by Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course.
The Bruins posted a two-round total of 574 (+14) and trailed first-place USC (554, -6) by 20 shots. Host Stanford was second at 572 (+12). Cal was in fourth place at 577 (+17), followed by fifth-place UC Irvine (581 (+21).
Individually for the Bruins, senior Kevin Chappell was tied for third place after rounds of 69-71--140 (E). Junior Lucas Lee was fifth at 141 (+1) after carding scores of 72-69. Tied for 24th was junior Erik Flores at 146 (+6) following scores of 69-77 and tied for 35th was freshman Philip Francis at 148 (+8) after a pair of 74s. Sophomore Jason Kang was tied for 56th at 152 (+12) after posting two rounds of 76. Playing as an individual, senior Craig Leslie was tied for 35th at 148 (+8) after posting scores of 72-76.
USC's Rory Hie led the field at seven-under par 133 following rounds of 62-71.
