Samaniego and Schofield Advance to Semifinals at USA Spring Diving Nationals

Marisa Samaniego and Tess Schofield have advanced to the semifinal rounds of their respective specialites at the 2007 USA Spring Diving National in Maryland.

Samaniego advanced on 3M after finishing 10th overall with a score of 228.00 points.

"Marisa had a bad dive, but she recovered well and I'm exciting to see what she does the rest of the competition," said dive coach Tom Stebbins.

Samaniego also pre-qualified on 1M and did not compete in the prelim rounds. She will dive in the semifinals on Wednesday morning and then the 3M semi's on Thursday.

Schofield advanced on the tower event after finishing 14th (198.25) in the prelim round. She will compete in the semifinal on Thursday morning.

"Tess had some trouble getting going, but she turned it around to advance to the next round," said Stebbins.

Brittany Hill finished 33rd on 1M with a score of 144.85 and 19th on 3M with a score of 196.00.

"Brittany competed well and was just five spots outside of qualifying for the semifinals," added Stebbins.
