The men's and women's track and field teams will split for two meets this weekend as the Bruins will be competing in Pullman, WA at the Cougar Indoor and Seattle, WA for the UW Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The Cougar Indoor is a scored meet between UCLA, Idaho, Utah State, Montana and Washington State where each team will be scored in head-to-head dual meet battles.
The UW Invite features multiple schools including UCLA, Washington, Long Beach State, Sacramento State, BYU, Kansas among others.
These will be the first meets of the year for the women's squad after just one athlete, Ida Storm (weight throw), competed in Fresno last weekend. Several newcomers will be making their Bruin debut in Pullman including Brea Buchanan, Kylie Price, Katie Reid and Faith Anumba.
On the men's side, four Bruin decathletes will be competing in the first heptathlon of the season (David Thomas, Trent Perez, Dominic Giovannoni and Marcus Nilsson). Alec Faldermeyer, who posted the No. 7 weight throw mark in the NCAA last weekend in Fresno, will look to improve on his throw of 67-6.25 and notch another win. Mike Woepse, who cleared a lifetime-best of 17-8.50 at the Reno Pole Vault Summit last weekend will also be in action. The mark did not count for NCAA competition, but would be tied for fourth in the NCAA this season.
Distance runners for both the men's and women's teams will be competing in Seattle.
