The UCLA swimming and diving team will begin the 2010-2011 season this weekend as they play host to two double dual meets. The Bruins will first face off with UC Davis and Loyola Marymount on Friday at 1:00 pm, and then host Oregon State and UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at noon. Both meets will be held at the Spieker Aquatics Center.
UCLA has never competed against UC Davis or LMU. Against UCSB, the Bruins are 26-0 and are 9-0 vs. the Beavers.
This weekend's meets are the first of seven home contests for the Bruins. UCLA will hold Idaho and San Diego on October 29th, Arizona State on November 12th, Arizona on November 13th, Boise State on January 7th and the Bruin Diving Invitational January 7th-9th.
The Bruins only lost three student-athletes to graduation (Kirsten Byers, Isabell Fischer and Alexandra Nalevanko) and welcome back a team that is full of experience and talent. A talented crop of newcomers have come to Westwood and the team will look for many of them to be prime contributors in the meets this season.
Last season, the Bruins had a record of 5-4 (2-4 in Pac-10), finished fifth at Pac-10s and were 19th at NCAAs.
