Junior outfielder Andrea Harrison (Garden Grove, CA/Pacifica HS) of the UCLA softball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Feb. 7-13.
Harrison had hits in all five games this weekend at the Stacy Winsberg Memorial Tournament, including a 3-for-3 effort against San Diego State on Sunday when she posted her fifth-career, two-homer game and tied a personal best with six runs batted in. She went 10-for-17 for the week for a .588 average, belting three homers, driving in 12 and scoring eight runs.
In the season opener on Friday against Utah State, the junior went 3-for-4 with four RBI, three runs scored and a walk. Harrison got the Bruins on the board in the first inning, singling in a pair of runs. In the fourth, she added a two-run homer. After going 2-for-4 with an RBI single in Friday's nightcap against North Dakota State, Harrison added hits in both contests on Saturday, going 1-for-3 with two runs and an RBI double versus North Dakota State and 1-for-3 with a run scored against UCF.
Harrison's biggest day came on Sunday, when she became the 13th Bruin to post at least six RBI in one game and just the second to do it twice. Harrison reached in all four plate appearances. After walking in the first, she cut the Bruins' deficit to one in the third after singling in a run to make it 2-1. In the fifth, Harrison launched her second homer of the weekend and first of the game, a three-run shot, to put the Bruins up 4-2. She added another homer in her next at-bat in the sixth, this time belting a two-run shot.
This is Harrison's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
