For the second straight meet, Shannon Murakami has produced a lifetime-best performance, this time in the mile, as she won the college section at the New Balance Collegiate Invite in New York.
Murakami won the event with a time of 4:49.24, bettering her previous indoor-best of 4:54.55. Her time was just 2.24 seconds shy of an NCAA provisional mark. Last weekend in Seattle, Murakami ran a lifetime-best and NCAA qualifier in the 3000m (9:30.01).
Junior Ashlea McLaughlin ran a lifetime-best in the 400m for the second consecutive day, dropping down to 54.85 in the 400m championship final to finish eighth overall.
In the triple jump, sophomore Ke'Nyia Richardson jumped an indoor-best of 40-7.25 to finish eighth in the championship section.
The women continue the indoor season next weekend when they head to Nampa, Idaho for the Boise State Team Invitational.
