SEATTLE - Adam Plutko threw seven shutout innings to lead the No. 11 UCLA baseball team past Washington, 2-0, in a Pac-12 game before 1,392 at Safeco Field on Friday night.

Tyler Heineman's two-run, two-out single in the top of the third inning put UCLA ahead, leading the Bruins (33-13, 13-9 Pac-12) to their 12th consecutive win against the Huskies (26-19, 11-11) in a streak dating to 2008.

Plutko (7-3) earned the win, limiting Washington to five hits in seven scoreless frames. He logged four strikeouts and issued three walks in his 13th start of the season.

Scott Griggs tied the school's single-season saves record, collecting his 12th save by striking out three hitters in the ninth inning. Griggs moved into a tie on the single-season list with Gabe Sollecito, who had 12 saves in 1992.

Washington's Aaron West (6-5) was tagged with the loss, surrendering two runs and five hits in eight innings.

Cody Keefer and Jeff Gelalich each went 2-for-4 as the only players in the game to record multiple hits.

David Berg allowed one hit in a scoreless eighth inning, before Griggs closed the door in the ninth. Griggs allowed one two-out hit before striking out pinch-hitter Michael Camporeale to end the ballgame.

Washington totaled seven hits and stranded nine runners on base. The Huskies stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the first, and failed to push runners home from third and first base with nobody out in the bottom of the fifth.

UCLA resumes its series against Washington on Saturday afternoon. Game time at Husky Ballpark is 2 p.m. Fans can listen to a live audio broadcast online, free of charge, at uclabruins.com.
