Final Stats

LOS ANGELES - Nana Meriwether had 11 kills and six blocks while Kaitlin Sather added seven kills and a career-high six aces as fourth-ranked UCLA easily swept Oregon State on Friday night at Pauley Pavilion, 30-12, 30-15, 30-26.

UCLA improves to 28-3, 14-3 Pac-10, while OSU falls to 3-23, 0-17 Pac -10.

UCLA trailed just twice all night, the first coming on the opening point of the match. However, the Bruins quickly claimed the lead by scoring the next seven points, including four-consecutive OSU errors. The Bruin lead was four points at 14-10 when UCLA began dominating the rest of game one, going on a 16-2 run the rest of the way as the Bruins hit .345 in game one while holding OSU to a -.212 en route to the 30-12 decision.

Game two was more of the same as UCLA jumped out to an 11-1 lead thanks to five aces by Sather in the opening rotation. The Bruin lead was comfortably in the teens at 22-9 as UCLA head coach Andy Banachowski took the opportunity to insert several substitutes off the bench. The teams would sideout the final five serves as UCLA took a 30-15 win in game two.

Oregon State claimed its final lead of the night on the opening point of game three, but UCLA scored the next four points to take a 4-1 lead. The Bruins again pushed the margin to a comfortable nine points at 14-5 as, once again, UCLA took advantage of the opportunity for some reserves to see playing time prior to next weekend's start of the NCAA Tournament. Oregon State hung tough and closed the margin to one point at 22-21 and 26-25. Two Katie Carter kills helped UCLA reach match point and a Sather kill ended the night as the Bruins picked up the sweep.

Meriwether had 11 kills and hit .400 to tally 14.5 points in the match while Ali Daley had 10 kills and five blocks for 12.5 points. Sather tied Meriwether with 14.5 points thanks to her career-best serving night, topping the five aces she posted three times, most recently earlier this season against Tennessee Tech. Colby Lyman tallied a match-high 13 digs and Nellie Spicer dished 38 assists as UCLA outhit OSU as a team, .307 to .032. OSU was paced by Rachel Rourke with nine kills and 12.0 points.

UCLA wraps up the regular season on Saturday night with a 5 p.m. match against Oregon in Pauley Pavilion. The NCAA Tournament selections are scheduled to be announced on Sunday afternoon (November 26) at 12:30 p.m. PST and will be telecast live on ESPNEWS.
