Recap |  Box Score

Head Coach John Savage
opening statement
"Today was about two great pitchers going at each other. Cody [Decker] had the big three-run homer to separate the score and then it was all about Tyson [Brummett]. He just went out there and competed and gave us a chance to win. It was a good way to start out the tournament."

on starting pitcher Tyson Brummett
"He was like that against Miami earlier in the season and we've seen so many performances like that from him this season. It's unfortunate that he couldn't complete the game, but he did exactly what a Friday night Pac-10 pitcher is supposed to do. He shut out a good team for eight innings."

on the Bruins offense
"It's all about offense and getting on any way you can. We had good production from 1-9 today and it was good to see because if you're going to win a regional tournament, you need to have everyone on board and have a lot of production all the way through."

winning pitcher Tyson Brummett
on his effort today
"You always want to finish what you started. I felt like I had pretty good endurance and I don't think my pitch count was too high, but that last inning they got to me a little bit. I just handed the ball off to [Tim] Murphy and he was able to get the win."

on not being able to get the complete game
"I've been fortunate enough to go deep in a lot of games throughout the whole season. We've got a good throwing program so going out there and finishing off the game is not something I feel fatigued or tasked to do."

on getting three first inning runs
"As a pitcher when you get runs up on the board and you feel like you have a cushion, you have it in the back of your mind that you can get through messing up a little bit. Its always good to pitch with the lead."

designated hitter Cody Decker
on his three-run first inning home run
"He started me off with a slider and gave me the pitch later on in the at-bat. I was looking to hit the ball deep and was able to turn on it."

on the Bruins' offense and playing at Blair Field
"We came into this series knowing we had no excuses and that this is a big field. We've played here before, and we know what we're about as an offense, so we all came in with the proper mentality and focused on driving the ball."
