LOS ANGELES - The fifth-seeded Bruins came back from an early 2-0 deficit to score seven unanswered runs and defeat Fresno State 7-2 on Sunday to win the Los Angeles Regional and advance to Super Regionals. Junior Monica Harrison hit a three-run homer, while senior Julie Burney and sophomore Samantha Camuso also left the yard.

The Bruins improve to 43-11 on the season and will host Louisiana-Lafayette next weekend in the Super Regional round. Game times and dates will be released by the NCAA later Sunday night or Monday morning. The Bulldogs' season concludes at 41-21.

Sophomore Aleah Macon posted her second victory of the weekend to move to 10-1 on the year, tying a career high with 12 strikeouts and allowing two runs (one earned), six hits and three walks in seven innings. Macon retired the side in order in the second and fanned a pair in the third, fourth and seventh innings, as well as three in the fifth.

The Bruins had five hits as a team, with three of them going over the fence. Junior GiOnna DiSalvatore and freshman B.B. Bates also had singles, as DiSalvatore walked three times.

Fresno State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Haley Gilleland reached on a leadoff error, and one out later, Michelle Moses homered to left to stake the Bulldogs to an early advantage.

It was all Bruins after that though, as Camuso, whose error led to the Bulldogs' first run, atoned with a game-tying homer. Sophomore Dani Yudin walked, and one out later, Camuso hit her 11th homer of the season and third of the weekend to right-center to tie the game at two.

The Bruins busted it open with four in the sixth, taking advantage of a Fresno State error. With one out, Camuso walked and was pinch-run for by freshman Devon Lindvall. One out later, Bates reached on a fielding error by second baseman Rebecca Walker to put two on base. DiSalvatore then blooped a single into left field to plate Lindvall to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead. Monica Harrison followed with her third home run of the season to left to increase the margin to 6-2.

Macon got out of a big jam in the bottom of the sixth. The Bulldogs had the bases loaded with nobody out following a single by Courtney Moore, a walk to Caitlin Stiglich and a single from Alexis Lujan. Macon then induced Nicole Angene into a comebacker to get a force out at home, and followed that up by striking out Walker and popping up Brooke Phipps to end the threat.

The Bruins added an insurance run in the seventh when Burney hit her 16th homer of the year to center to make it 7-2.

Following a leadoff single by Gilleland in the bottom of the seventh, Macon fanned Andrea Ortega and Moses, with the game ending when Moore was retired on a nice catch by Camuso that sent her crashing into the wall.
