McLaughlin, Rowe & Wiemann Highlight Bruin Women at Oxy Invite

Ashlea McLaughlin, Lindsay Rowe and Kelcie Wiemann highlighted the women's track and field team on Saturday at the Oxy Invitational in Eagle Rock, CA.

McLaughlin ran a big lifetime-best of 52.95 to finish second in the 400m. She was the top collegiate finisher in the event and that mark ranks 13th in the NCAA this season. Joy Eaton, also in the 400m, ran a lifetime-best as well as she placed third with the 22nd-best mark in the NCAA this season, 53.21.

Rowe won the high hurdles with a season-best run of 13.28. That mark ranks 28th in the NCAA this season. She also was the top finisher for the Bruins in the 100m, placing eighth in a time of 12.10.

Wiemann was second in the steeple chase as she ran a new lifetime-best of 10:57.94. That moves her into the UCLA all-time top-10 at the No. 2 spot.

In the 800m, Paisley Pettway led the way as she was the top Bruin finisher, placing sixth in a time of 2:10.40. Allie Lopez was eighth in the 1500m, running 4:32.65. Four other Bruin runners ran lifetime-bests in the 1500m - Rachel Butler (4:37.28), Meghan Marvin (4:39.51), Lauren Hall (4:40.17) and Elle Sanders (4:44.59).

Whitney Blue ran a lifetime-best in the 5000m (17:13.89) to finish sixth overall.

In field event action, Alexis Walker placed third in the high jump (5-8) and Ke'Nyia Richardson was second in the triple (38-11.50).

The Bruins now turn their focus to the Pac-10 Champiosnhips, which are held in Tucson, AZ next Friday and Saturday.
