The third-ranked UCLA women's golf team sizzled in the final round on Wednesday and vaulted several spots up the leaderboard to finish in fifth place at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Anthem Golf Course in Henderson, Nev.
The Bruins posted a team score of 284 (-4) and finished with a 54-hole total of 884 (+20), 29 shots behind the winner. Oklahoma State won the event with a three-round score of 885 (-9), followed by Arizona State at 865 (+1). Pepperdine captured third place at 871 (+7) and USC placed fourth at 875 (+11).
Individually for the Bruins, sophomore Ryann O'Toole roared back from a five-over par round on Tuesday to fire a career-best score of 66 (-6). She finished seventh at 214 (-2), both career-bests. All-American Tiffany Joh placed fourth, posting a solid 68 (-4) on Wednesday for a 54-hole total of 212 (-4). Senior Hannah Jun tied for 12th at 217 (+1) after carding a 70 (-2), a season-best score. Freshman Lalita Boonnoppornkul tied for 82nd. Freshman Sydnee Michaels traveled, but did not play in this event because of a wrist injury.
Texas A&M's Ashley Knoll won medalist honors, firing a final round 70 (-2) for a 54-hole score of 209 (-7).
