The third-ranked UCLA women's golf team was 10th after the first round of competition Friday at the Stanford Intercollegiate in Palo Alto.
The Bruins posted a team score of 298 (+14) and were 21 shots behind first place Arizona, which torched the Stanford Golf Course with a seven-under par team score of 277. Top-ranked Georgia was second at even par 284, followed Stanford at 286 (+2). Vanderbilt was fourth at 288 (+4) followed by second-ranked Duke in fifth place at 292 (+6).
For the Bruins, sophomore Ryann O'Toole fired a career best collegiate round of 69 (-2) and was two strokes off the lead tied for fourth place. Sophomore Tiffany Joh was tied for 37th at 75 (+4), followed by senior Hannah Jun, who as tied for 41st at 76 (+6). Freshman Sydnee Michaels was tied for 54th at 78 (+7) and Lalita Boonnoppornkul was tied for 66th at 10-over par.
Georgia's Whitney Wade and Arizona's Alison Walshe were tied for the lead at 67 (-4).
