Walnut Creek, Calif. - Senior midfielder Ryan Hollingshead has been named the Pac-12 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 2, as announced by the conference today.
Hollingshead, a native of Granite Bay, Calif., totaled four points in the opening weekend of Pac-12 Conference play to lead No. 6 UCLA to a sweep of the Bay Area schools. On Friday against Stanford, Hollingshead tallied his second assist of the year with a cross to Reed Williams for the third goal in a 3-1 victory. UCLA then earned a 3-1 win over California on Sunday, where Hollingshead notched another assist and a goal. The senior captain is tied for first on the team with nine points on the year (3 g, 3 a) and was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his performance.
This is Hollinghead's first-career weekly honor and UCLA's third weekly honor this season. UCLA leads the conference with 49th all-time players of the week.
The Bruins return to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 5 to play the Oregon State Beavers at 3 pm out at Drake Stadium.
