WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- UCLA sophomore Adrien Puget has been named Bank of the West Pac-12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for April 16-22, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday.
Puget, from Le Haillan, France, clinched the deciding singles match on Friday, helping No. 5 UCLA to a 4-3 road win over top-ranked and undefeated USC at the Marks Tennis Stadium. With the dual match tied at 3-3, Puget, who is ranked No. 61 nationally, posted a 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-2 victory over 43rd-ranked Yannick Hanfmann at court No. 5. With the win, UCLA snapped the Trojans' 45-match winning streak, which dates back to last season. At 7-0 in conference play, UCLA finishes the regular season as the lone undefeated team in the Pac-12 heading into this week's Conference tournament in Ojai.
Puget is the second Bruin to earn player of the week honors this season, as Nick Meister also won the award on Feb. 6.
