SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Senior Lauren Van Orden had a double-double with 39 assists and 10 digs and juniors Rachael Kidder (18) and Bojana Todorovic (10) each had double figures in kills and just missed out on double-doubles, as the second-ranked Bruins swept Utah on Friday at Crimson Court. Set scores were 25-12, 25-20, 25-17.

The Bruins improve to 12-2 overall and 5-1 in Pac-12 play, while the Utes fall to 6-9 and 1-5 in league action.

Van Orden added four blocks and three kills, as she posted her team-best sixth double-double of the season. Todorovic and Kidder almost got double-doubles too, but settled for nine and eight digs, respectively. Junior Tabi Love added eight kills, sophomore Mariana Aquino was a perfect 7-for-7 on kill attempts and senior Sara Sage posted five kills and five blocks. Senior Lainey Gera (13) and sophomore Meg Norton (10) were each in double figures in digs. The Bruins hit .352 for the match.

The Bruins were on fire to start the contest, scoring the first six points. Consecutive kills by Todorovic and Sage and a Utah attack error got UCLA its first three points, which was followed by another spike by Todorovic and two in a row from Kidder to make it 6-0. Seven sideouts later, the Bruins scored three in a row on an Aquino kill, a Utah attack error and a spike by Love to take a 12-4 advantage. After a Utah sideout, consecutive kills by Aquino and Kidder extended the advantage to nine at 14-5.

UCLA got its lead up to double figures for the first time thanks to a 5-1 run. Up 16-8, the Bruins received a Utah service error and a Kidder kill to make it 18-8. Following a Utah sideout, three in a row on two kills by Love, with a Van Orden joust victory at the net in between, brought the lead up to 12 at 21-9. Ahead 21-11, the Bruins netted four of the final five points to take the opener 25-12. A Love kill and solo block and a Todorovic spike gave UCLA set point, and on attempt number two, Aquino found the floor for a 13-point win. The Bruins hit an outstanding .576 with 20 kills and only one error in 33 swings. Kidder led the way with six kills, Love and Todorovic each had four and Aquino added three. Gera and Van Orden both posted six digs.

The only tie in the first set was at 0-0 and the Utes were tied with the Bruins on four occasions in the second set at five, six, nine and 13-all. But just like the opening stanza, UCLA never trailed in going up 2-0 in the match. The Bruins scored four of the first five. Kills by Aquino and Kidder made it 2-0, and after a Utah sideout, another Kidder spike and a Sage/Todorovic combo block made it 4-1. The Utes came back with four of the next five to even things at five and were still in it at 13-all, but a 3-0 UCLA run made it 16-13. Two kills by Kidder and a Utah attack error put the visitors up by three.

Up 18-16, a Utah service error and kills by Aquino and Todorovic gave the Bruins a set-best lead of five at 21-16. The Utes scored three of the next four to get to within three at 22-19, but the Bruins netted three of the last four of the set to take it 25-20, as Todorovic clinched the second on her third kill of the set. Kidder again led the Bruins with seven kills, while Aquino added four. Norton posted six digs, as the Bruins out-hit the Utes .333 to .188.

The Bruins started out strong again to open the third with five of the first six on kills by Kidder and Todorovic, a Sage solo block, a combo roof from Sage and Van Orden and a Utah service error, as it appeared the visitors would again lead wire-to-wire. But the Utes came back with four in a row and six of seven to take their first lead of the evening at 7-6. Utah still had one-point edges at 9-8 and 10-9, but a 4-0 UCLA run on two Ute errors and kills by Kidder and Todorovic made it 13-10.

The Bruins wouldn't trail for the rest of the set, with their smallest lead being two. At 15-13, a 3-0 run on kills by Sage and Van Orden, with the two also teaming up for a block, made it 18-13. Utah scored the next two, but another 3-0 UCLA run on a kill by Love, a Ute attack error and a Van Orden solo stuff put the visitors up by six at 21-15. The Bruins would score four of the final six points on a Kidder kill and three Utah errors, including one on UCLA's second match point to make it a 25-17 victory. Kidder had five kills and seven digs in the third, while Todorovic added three. The Bruins out-hit the Utes .167 to .026.

The Bruins continue their four-match road trip at Colorado on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT. Live stats and video will be available at
