The men's and women's track and field teams continue the indoor season this weekend at the Husky Classic in Seattle, WA and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, AR. The women will be sending a large squad to Arkansas consisting of sprints, hurdles, distances, jumps and relays, while a small group of jumpers, vaulters and a thrower head to Seattle. The men will have a full squad competing in Seattle only.
The women's team had some very impressive performances last weekend in New Mexico and will be looking for similar results this weekend. Lindsay Rowe leads the way as she has already posted lifetime-best performances in both the 60m and 60m hurdles. Freshman thrower Ida Storm will make her Bruin debut in the 20-lb weight throw. The Swede is in her first year training with the implement and could break the Swedish National Record in the event.
The men's team will have several athletes opening up in their primary events including Cory Primm and Scott Crawford in the 800m and Alex Crabill in the mile and 3000m. Footballer Damien Thigpen will make his Bruin debut in a track uniform this weekend as he will compete in the 60m and 200m. The men's distance medley relay team will also take to the track as they look to improve on their time for Nationals. Alec Faldermeyer will again be in action in the 35-lb weight throw. The freshman opened his UCLA career with one of the top 10 marks in the NCAA and will look to break the 70-foot barrier this weekend.
