WOODLAND, Calif. - Senior attacker Krsto Sbutega of the UCLA men's water polo team earned MPSF All-Tournament Team honors after having scored six goals in the Bruins' three MPSF Tournament contests at Pepperdine over the weekend (Nov. 28-30).
Sbutega registered two goals in the Bruins' 11-8 victory over No. 5-seed California in a first-round match on Friday. The product of Kotor, Montenegro scored one goal in a 9-5 semifinal loss to No. 1-seed USC on Saturday before leading the Bruins with three goals in a 10-7 setback to No. 2-seed Stanford on Sunday.
Sbutega was joined on the MPSF All-Tournament Team by Pepperdine's J.P. MacDonell and John Hahn, Stanford's Drac Wigo and Janson Wigo and USC's J.W. Krumpholz and Shea Buckner.
In four seasons at UCLA, Sbutega netted 143 goals in 117 matches. The senior attacker moved into fifth place on UCLA's all-time goals list with his three-goal effort on Sunday, climbing past Chris Kellerman's four-year total of 142 goals.
Sbutega finished his senior campaign with 50 goals in 24 matches, averaging 2.08 goals per game, the third-highest rate among MPSF competitors. Sbutega became the first Bruin to score 50 goals or more in a season since Brett Ormsby logged 70 goals as a senior in 2004.
