Los Angeles, Calif. - Senior midfielder Ryan Hollingshead has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week for the week of Sept. 24-30, as announced by the publication today.
The senior captain had a big weekend for the Bruins as UCLA swept the Bay Area schools by matching scores of 3-1 to open Pac-12 play. On Friday against Stanford, Hollingshead notched his second assist of the year after setting up Reed Williams with a beautiful cross for UCLA's third and final goal of the day. He kept it going on Sunday, scoring a goal and recording another assist in a 3-1 victory over California. Hollingshead is now tied for the team in points (3 g, 3 a) with fellow senior Fernando Monge and Williams.
The Bruins improved to 7-1-2 on the season after their two wins and are 2-0-0 in conference play. UCLA will continue Pac-12 play this weekend as they face Oregon State on Friday, Oct. 5 at 3 pm and Washington on Monday, Oct. 8 at 7 pm out at Drake Stadium. Fans can buy tickets to the matches here.
