Divers to Compete at Trojan Invitational on Friday and Saturday

Nov. 2, 2006

Tom Stebbins and the UCLA dive team will compete in their first meet of the 2006-07 season on Friday and Saturday when they travel crosstown to USC and the Trojan Diving Invitational. The 3-meter competition will begin on Friday at 10:00 am, with the 1-meter competition after the conclusion of 3M. The tower portion of the meet will be held on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 am.

All of UCLA's diver - seniors Amanda Blong and Sara Clark and sophomores Brittany Hill, Shannon Pirozzi, Marisa Samaniego and Tess Schofield will compete on the 1M and 3M boards. Freshman Morgan Erpenbeck is redshirting and will not compete as she recovers from wrist surgery.

"It will be a small meet this year, but very competitive," said Coach Stebbins. "Hawaii is coming and they always have some strong divers, along with USC. We are just really excited to finally get out of the blocks and have our first chance to compete in a real meet."

The swim team does not compete this weekend. Arizona State and Arizona will travel to UCLA next Friday and Saturday as the Bruins return to Pac-10 dual meet action.
