UCLA Women's Water Polo Picked Fourth in MPSF Preseason Poll

LOS ANGELES - The UCLA women's water polo team has been selected to finish fourth among eight teams in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) preseason coaches' poll, as announced by the conference Tuesday.

Stanford was picked to win the conference, securing 49 total points and seven of eight first-place votes.

California and USC were chosen second and third, respectively. California captured one first-place vote and 39 total points. USC received 35 points.

UCLA was picked fourth in the poll with 34 points.

Rounding out the conference's remaining four spots were Arizona State (27), San Jose State (18), San Diego State (15) and Hawaii (7), respectively.

UCLA went 26-7 last season, finishing in a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings. The Bruins finished second at the MPSF Tournament and third at the NCAA Tournament.

In 2012, the Bruins will return 16 letterwinners, including seniors KK Clark, Sarah Orozco and Caitlin Dement.

UCLA opens the season at the Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich., the weekend of Jan. 21-22. The Bruins open the tournament against Colorado State on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 7:30 a.m. (PT)/10:30 a.m. (ET).
