EIGHTH-RANKED UCLA TRAVELS TO #9 CAL IN TOP 10 BATTLE
The defending national champion and eighth-ranked Bruins (31-10, 7-5 Pac-10) head north to face #9 California (30-9, 7-5 Pac-10) this weekend in Berkeley. Game times are Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m. Gametracker and free live audio will be available at UCLABruins.com.

ON DECK
The Bruins close out their regular-season home schedule next weekend against Arizona in a rematch of the 2010 WCWS Championship Series (May 6 at 7 p.m., May 7 at 6 p.m. and May 8 at 12 p.m.). Large crowds are expected all weekend long, with all seating general admission, first-come first-served. Friday's contest will be televised on tape delay on Fox Sports Net. Prior to Saturday's game, the Bruins will retire the jersey of three-time All-American Lisa Longaker in a pre-game ceremony. On Sunday, UCLA will honor its five seniors before their final regular-season home game. Gametracker and free live audio will be available at UCLABruins.com.

BRUINS IN THE POLLS
The Bruins moved up three spots to eighth in this week's USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll and jumped two spots to 11th in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball rankings. The Bruins tied Arizona for first in the Pac-10 preseason rankings, with each team receiving four first-place votes and 46 points.

NEWS AND NOTES
Senior GiOnna DiSalvatore became UCLA's all-time leader in doubles with her 60th in the first inning of an April 9 game against Stanford. The team leader in doubles with 13 had another one on April 17 at Arizona State to give her 61 for her career ... senior Donna Kerr took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of Thursday's game against Washington, settling for a one-hitter with six strikeouts. She has 12 complete games in which she has allowed zero or one hit, tossing a perfect game against Saint Peter's (2008), a no-hitter earlier this year versus Utah State (Feb. 11) and 10 one-hitters ... junior Samantha Camuso made her season debut on April 6 against Loyola Marymount. She has started at designated player nine times and at first base once ... junior Andrea Harrison leads the Bruins in all three triple crown categories, as well as in slugging, on base and walks. A Top 25 finalist for the USA Softball Player of the Year award, Harrison will wear #18 for the rest of the season to honor her sister Monica, who will not play this year due to an injury ... freshman Talee Snow leads the Bruins and all Pac-10 players in sacrifice hits with 10. She has hits in seven of her 12 conference contests ... freshman Jessica Hall tossed six innings of shutout ball over two starts last weekend, earning a win on Friday. She is tops on the pitching staff with 15 victories and 118 2/3 innings pitched ... sophomore B.B. Bates has hits in four straight games after going 3-for-7 (.429) against Washington. She has 30 career, multiple-hit games and 13 this season ... all 14 of junior Aleah Macon's appearances this season have come in relief. She has two saves this year and five for her career, which is tied for third in UCLA history ... after hitting her 10th home run on Thursday, Kellie Fox became the fifth UCLA freshman to reach double figures in homers. She equals the 10 hit by Julie Adams (1996), Claire Sua (2001) and Emily Zaplatosch (2003). The UCLA freshman record for homers is 20 by Stacey Nuveman in 1997 ... junior Katie Schroeder has a hit in 17 of her last 21 games. She holds a .394 batting average during that stretch with two homers, 11 RBI and 21 runs scored ... freshman Alyssa Tiumalu has hits in four of her last five games. She hit her seventh and eighth home runs of the season on Friday and Saturday against Washington ... junior Dani Yudin has hits in seven of her last eight games, producing a single on Thursday, a double on Friday and a single on Saturday ... Kelly Inouye-Perez earned her 200th-career victory on March 11 against Sacramento State and is 214-59 as the head coach ... the Bruins lost their first extra-inning game of the season in four attempts on Saturday and also fell for the first time when leading after the sixth (17-1) and hitting at least two homers in a game (17-1) ... in both UCLA wins against Washington, it scored in its first at-bat, running its record to 21-1 this season when accomplishing the feat and 42-2 over the last two years ... UCLA has posted 11 mercy-rule wins, seven shutouts and 11 comeback victories ... 110 of the Bruins' 257 runs have been scored via the home run (42.8 percent of their runs), including 10 of 12 last weekend and all five on Friday ... UCLA has three or four homers in a game 10 times this season ... the Bruins have five grand slams (Fox and Yudin 2, Harrison 1), 10 three-run homers, 17 two-run shots and 26 solo bombs ... 116 of UCLA's 257 runs have been scored with two outs (45.1%). Harrison leads the way with 22 two-out RBI, followed by Fox with 21 and Bates with 17 ... the Bruins' .438 on base percentage is on pace to break the single-season record of .432, which was set last year.

BRUINS IN THE NATIONAL RANKINGS
Junior Andrea Harrison is in the national Top 50 in five statistical categories, ranking 33rd in slugging (.807) and on base percentages (.523), 35th in RBI per game (1.07) and home runs (13) and 48th in walks per game (0.66). Senior GiOnna DiSalvatore is 35th in doubles per game (0.32) and freshman Kellie Fox is 39th in RBI per game (1.05). As a team, the Bruins are eighth in homers per game (1.41), 12th in slugging (.545), 15th in runs per game (6.27), 21st in batting average (.321), 22nd in doubles per game (1.54) and 39th in earned run average (2.06).

BRUINS IN THE PAC-10 RANKINGS
The Bruins are in the top half of the Pac-10 in 10 offensive categories, rankings first in sacrifice hits (29) and second in on base percentage (.438) and doubles (63). UCLA is also third in home runs (58) and walks (192), tied for third in sacrifice flies (10) and fourth in slugging (.545), runs scored (257), runs batted in (245) and total bases (586). In the circle, UCLA is tied for first with five saves, second in opposing batting average (.205) and fifth in earned run average (2.06) and strikeouts (271). Junior Andrea Harrison is in the Pac-10 Top 10 in eight offensive categories, ranking fourth in slugging (.807), tied for fourth in home runs (13) and tied for fifth in RBI (44). Freshman Talee Snow is first with 10 sacrifice hits, freshman Kellie Fox is tied for second with six sac bunts and senior Donna Kerr and junior Aleah Macon are tied for fourth with two saves apiece. SCOUTING THE CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS
California claimed two of three last weekend against Bay Area rival Stanford to win its second-straight, Pac-10 series. The Golden Bears swept Oregon the previous weekend, but lost 2-of-3 to Washington and Arizona State. Cal will close out an 11-game homestand this weekend before traveling for the final two series' and plays Santa Clara on Wednesday before entertaining the Bruins. The Bears are hitting .284 as a team with 28 home runs and 67 stolen bases, averaging 5.0 runs per game. Three players are batting over .300, led by junior Jamia Reid's .419 average with two homers, 13 RBI and 20 stolen bases. Freshman Britt Vonk is second with a .404 average and first with 22 steals and 20 walks to go with a homer and 12 RBI, while junior Jace Williams is hitting .358 with two homers and a team-best 26 RBI. Junior Elia Reid and sophomores Jolene Henderson and Lindsey Ziegenhirt are tied for the team lead with six homers. In the circle, Henderson has pitched 85 percent of Cal's innings, leading the nation with a 0.74 earned run average to go with a 27-6 record and 208 strikeouts in 218 2/3 innings. Diane Ninemire is in her 24th year at Cal and has a record of 1044-505.

THE SERIES: BRUINS VS. GOLDEN BEARS
UCLA holds a 78-22 all-time lead in its series with California, taking 2-of-3 last year at Easton Stadium. The Bruins won 4-2 and 3-1 in the first two games, but lost 4-2 in the weekend finale. UCLA is 27-13 in Berkeley, but dropped a pair in 2009 by scores of 7-6 and 9-5. The Bruins' last win at Cal was a 7-2 triumph in 2008.
