UCLA senior Kevin Chappell earned Pac-10 Co-Golfer of the Month honors for October/November, the conference announced today.
A Fresno native, Chappell, 21, led the second-ranked Bruins to victories in three consecutive tournaments. Individually, he finished second in the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, fourth in the CordeValle Collegiate and he was 4-0-0 in match play at the Callaway Collegiate Championship, which UCLA won. His two Top 10 finishes extended his streak of consecutive Top 20 results to seven over two years. The 2007 2nd Team All-American leads the Bruins with scoring average of 71.2.
"Kevin is well-deserving of this honor," said Head Coach Derek Freeman. "All he's trying to do is win golf tournaments with nine hole to go, and he's been right on schedule in both of his stroke play events. He also played very well at the match play championship against some tough competition."
Chappell shares the honor with Washington's Zach Bixler, who recorded three Top 10 finishes and fired a 60 in the second round of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational.
