Silva Leads Bruin Divers On Day One Of Trojan Invitational

Junior Karina Silva started off her Bruin career strongly on Friday at the Trojan Invitational as she picked up Zone qualifiers on three-meter and tower as UCLA's top finisher on both events.

On three-meter, Silva posted a prelim score of 280.45 for the third-best point total heading into finals. Once in the final, Silva score a career-high and Zone qualifier of 302.65 to finish third overall. On tower, Silva also picked up a Zone mark with a score of 224.90, also finishing third overall.

Junior Laura Winn had a career day on three-meter as she posted a top score of 263.75 for fifth-place overall (previous best, 241.95). Winn was also fourth on tower with a total of 215.15 points, missing the Zone qualifier by less then 10 points.

Freshmen Michelle Vale (241.15) and Maggy Boyd (218.10) finished 10th and 12th, respectively.

All four women will compete on one-meter on Saturday to wrap up the first diving competition of the season.
