We are heading into the fifth week of season fresh off an exciting victory in our first ever Pac-12 game. It feels great starting conference play with a road victory, and we are under way to achieving our goal of being Pac-12 champions. Last week's game in Corvallis was a hard fought team victory. It took tremendous team effort to grind out a W in a hostile environment. I have to give special recognition to Derrick Coleman and the offensive linemen for battling through a physical game in the trenches. Our defense played great as a unit and did a tremendous job of making stops when we needed them to. It was exciting to get our first conference victory in such a well fought game. Congratulations to Jordon James who got in the end zone for what is the first of many career touchdowns still to come. Thanks to all the Bruin faithful who made the trip to Corvallis. I hope the victory was just as exciting for you as it was for us.
While we enjoyed the victory, the teams focus quickly went to our next opponent - Stanford. This game has the opportunity to be a major boost in momentum for the rest of our season. We know it is going to take tremendous effort from all aspects of our team to go to Palo Alto and beat the No. 5 team in the nation. This is a challenge our team is excited to be presented with and this will be a week full of focus and hard work during practice.
Off the field, this past week school began and students are back in Westwood. I am lucky to have only one class this quarter, which is also the last class I need to graduate! I also had the chance to see my mom and nana that flew out for our Texas game last weekend. It is always great to see my mom and nana especially because I don't get to see them very often. They spoiled me with breakfast, dinner and they both made me a loaf of my favorite banana bread!
I am excited to begin preparation for our game against Stanford this week. We have a tough task ahead of us and are anxious to get on the practice field. Save travels to everyone going to the game.
