Seventh-ranked UCLA, behind an incredible performance from senior Steve Klosterman, demolished No. 10 Cal State Northridge 3-0 on Wednesday night in Pauley Pavilion.
The Bruins won 30-16, 30-23, 30-26 in front of 434 fans in 80 minutes. The victory raised the Bruins' overall record to 9-7, 7-6 in MPSF play. The Matadors fell to 8-8, 6-5.
UCLA senior Steve Klosterman turned in an amazing performance, slamming a career-high of 31 kills in 45 attempts with just one error for an attack percentage of .667. The 6-7 All-American ripped off 22 straight kills before being blocked in Game 3. He hammered another nine kills in the final game, including the match-winner. He also added two aces and four block assists for a career-best 35 points.
As a team, the Bruins hit .537 with four aces and nine total blocks. The Bruins held the Matadors to an attack percentage of .200.
Eric Vance led the visitors with 13 kills.
The Bruins will host No.3 UC Santa Barbara on Fri., Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
