Freshman center Kevin Love (Lake Oswego, OR/Lake Oswego HS) of the UCLA men's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week (February 25-March 2).
Love recorded his 17th and 18th double-doubles of the year, helping UCLA to two wins last week at Arizona State (70-49) and at Arizona (68-66). Love averaged 21.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game and shot 56.5 percent (13-for-23) from the field and 88.9 percent (16-for-18) from the free-throw line. In the win at Arizona State, Love had 18 points and 12 rebounds. In the win over Arizona, he tallied 24 points and 15 rebounds. He went 10-for-11 from the free-throw line against the Wildcats. Love, who has scored in double figures all 29 games this season, has recorded a double-double in 11 of the last 13 games (including the last three contests). He has grabbed more rebounds (323) than any Bruin since Bill Walton had 398 in 1974. Love is 10th on the single season rebounding list, just behind Sidney Wicks, who had 357 in 1970.
This is Love's third UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
