Bruins in Major League Soccer - Playoffs Week Two

Each week, uclabruins.com will update and highlight select UCLA players' progress during the current MLS season. Games highlighted are from the second legs of the Semifinal rounds and the first legs of the Conference Finals through Nov. 11. The Bruins lead all universities with 22 alumni in MLS.

Tony Beltran (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 2006-07)
Beltran started and played 85 minutes as Real Salt Lake saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Seattle in the second leg of the Western Conference Semifinals. Beltran did not record a statistic in the match and was subbed off in the 85th minute for Luis Gil.

Chance Myers started and played all 90 minutes at right back on Wednesday as Sporting Kansas City defeated Houston, 1-0, in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Despite the win though, Sporting Kansas City failed to advance, losing 2-1 on aggregate. Myers did not record a statistic in the match, but helped Kansas City earn its 15th shutout of the season.

Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 1997-99)
Nick Rimando made four saves, but it wasn't enough as Real Salt Lake fell to Seattle 1-0 on Thursday, ending their season in the Western Conference Semifinals. In his two playoff games this year, Rimando was spectacular, making a combined nine saves and allowing just one goal.

Andy Rose came on as a substitute and played 17 minutes as Seattle advanced to the Western Conference Finals with a 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Thursday. Rose came on for Christian Tiffert in the 73rd minute and did not record a statistic in the match. Rose then came on for Tiffert in the 73rd minute again on Sunday in Seattle's 3-0 loss to the Galaxy in the first leg of the Western Conference Finals. Rose again did not record a statistic in the match.

Michael Stephens (Los Angeles Galaxy; Years played at UCLA: 2006-09)
Michael Stephens came on as a substitute and played 13 minutes in the Galaxy's 3-0 win over Seattle in the Western Conference Finals on Sunday. Stephens came on in the 77th minute for Christian Wilhelmsson and recorded one shot in his 13 minutes of play. The Galaxy will look to earn their second straight trip to the MLS Cup this Sunday as they travel to Seattle with a 3-0 lead on aggregate.
