Barnes, Wright Help U.S. Under-23s Capture Four Nations Tournament Title

Coventry, United Kingdom -The U.S. U-23 Women's National Team defeated the Sweden U-23 WNT, 1-0, in its final match at the Four Nations Tournament as Stanford University forward Christen Press scored the lone goal of the game in the 21st minute.

The U.S. U-23 Women's National Team defeated the Sweden U-23 WNT, 1-0, in its final match at the Four Nations Tournament as Stanford University forward Christen Press scored the lone goal of the game in the 21st minute. It was Press' third goal of the tournament.

With the victory, the USA won the four-team competition that also included England and Norway. In its first game, the USA defeated England, 3-0, on two goals from Press and one from Elli Reed, and fell to Norway, 2-1, in its second match.

The USA, Norway and Sweden all ended the round-robin competition on six points, with England at zero points, but the USA finished atop the table with a better goal difference on the strength of its 3-0 victory over the English.

The lone goal came when Melissa Henderson received ball on left wing and ran with it to just inside of the penalty box. Henderson then sent a pass on the ground through the goal area to Press was crashing to smash her shot low in the right corner of the goal.
