Sophomore third baseman Jermaine Curtis (Fontana, CA/A.B. Miller HS) of the UCLA baseball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for May 29-June 3.
Curtis helped lead the Bruins to three wins in three games at the NCAA Regionals over the weekend, giving UCLA a berth in the Super Regional for the first time since 2000. Curtis hit .500 (7-for-14) with two runs, three RBI, one home run and one double to earn Long Beach Regional MVP honors. In UCLA's clinching 7-4 win over Long Beach State on Sunday evening, Curtis' solo blast cut the hosts' lead to 4-3, paving the way for a four-run inning that propelled the Bruins to victory.
This is Curtis' first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of his career.
