No. 4 UCLA Men's Water Polo Defeats Johns Hopkins, 14-7

PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 4 UCLA men's water polo team downed Johns Hopkins, 14-7, in the Bruins' first of two matches at the Princeton Invitational on Sunday morning at DeNunzio Pool. UCLA (4-0) received three goals each from senior Cole Consani, junior Emilio Vieira and freshman Griffin White.

The Bruins won their fourth game of the Princeton Invitational by racing to a 4-1 lead through the first quarter. Johns Hopkins outscored UCLA by a 3-2 margin in the second frame, closing the gap to 6-4 at halftime.

UCLA outscored Johns Hopkins, 3-2, in the third quarter before pulling ahead by a 5-1 margin in the fourth quarter to secure a 14-7 victory.

In addition to UCLA's three hat tricks, the Bruins received two goals from freshman Josh Samuels and one goal each from sophomore Brett Hays, freshman Clinton Jorth and senior Scott Swanson.

Senior goalkeeper Chay Lapin registered three saves in the first half. Freshman Matt Rapacz made four stops in the second half for UCLA.

The Bruins face No. 20 Bucknell at 12:30 p.m. (PT) Sunday in both teams' final matches at the Princeton Invitational.
