Fullerton, Calif. - Senior right-hander Tyson Brummett (3-1) threw his second complete game in as many outings to lead the No. 15 UCLA baseball team past No. 10 Cal State Fullerton, 6-2, before 3,029 fans at Goodwin Field Friday evening. Brummett allowed two runs off five hits and struck out a season-high 10 batters.

Friday night's pitching matchup pitted two of the nation's hottest collegiate arms - Brummett and Cal State Fullerton's Wes Roemer (2-2). Last Friday, Brummett recorded a complete game victory against East Carolina. Roemer allowed four runs (three earned) off a career-high 12 hits, tied his career-best with 12 strikeouts and did not issue a walk.

The Bruins took an early 1-0 lead when second baseman Alden Carrithers scored in the first inning. Carrithers reached first base on a single to shortstop, advanced to second on a failed pickoff throw by Roemer and moved to third on a fly out left by left fielder Will Penniall. Shortstop Brandon Crawford brought home Carrithers on a groundout to second base.

The Titans took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs and runners at first and third, left fielder Nick Mahin singled through the right side of the infield, scoring shortstop Joe Scott. Catcher John Curtis singled to right field on a 3-and-2 count to bring home second baseman Joel Weeks. Cal State Fullerton stranded two runners on base when first baseman Jake Vasquez ended the inning with a fly out to right field.

UCLA responded with a three-run fourth inning. First baseman Tim Stewart led off with a double to center and reached third on right fielder Justin Uribe's bloop single to left. Catcher Ryan Babineau drilled the first pitch he saw from Roemer through the left side for a single, scoring Stewart from third to tie the game, 2-2. Each runner advanced one base on third baseman Nolan Rouse's sacrifice bunt before Carrithers plated Uribe with a base-hit to left. Crawford continued the rally by sending the first pitch of his at-bat to right field, scoring Babineau to give the Bruins a 4-2 advantage.

The Bruins increased their lead to 5-2 on a one-out single to right by Penniall, who brought home Rouse from third base. Rouse had reached first via a hit-by-pitch, advanced to second base on a groundout to first and took third on a wild pitch. The Diamond Bar, Calif. native knocked home Tim Stewart from third in the top of the ninth inning to give UCLA a 6-2 advantage.

UCLA and Cal State Fullerton resume their series at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles, Saturday at 6 p.m. The Bruins and Titans conclude their three-game series Sunday at UCLA at 1 p.m.

Game Notes: Brummett's 10 strikeouts are two shy if his career-high...five UCLA hitters posted multi-hit games; Crawford registered his sixth multi-hit performance on the season and the 30th of his career...Crawford also tallied his fifth multi-RBI game of the year...Cal State Fullerton right-hander Wes Roemer allowed 12 hits, the most allowed in his career; Roemer's 12 strikeouts tied his career high and is the most K's in a game against UCLA this season.
