Sophomore guard Thea Lemberger (Santa Monica, CA/Santa Monica HS) of the UCLA women's basketball team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Dec. 26-Jan. 1.
Lemberger had a career-high 26 points on Thursday against California to help the Bruins to a 60-55 victory over the Golden Bears. Lemberger was 7-of-11 from the field, 3-of-6 from three-point range and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, adding four assists. She played all 20 minutes in the first half and had 10 points and added 16 points in the second half, making all eight of her free throws, including a perfect 6-for-6 down the stretch. The sophomore added eight points against Stanford on Saturday, with five of them coming in the second half.
Lemberger has started all 13 contests for the Bruins. She is tied for the team lead with nine double-figure scoring contests and is fourth on the squad with 11.4 points per game. She is tops on the team with 39 assists and 16 three-pointers and is shooting 73.7% from the charity stripe.
This is Lemberger's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and of her career.
