This Friday and Saturday the UCLA men's and women's track and field teams will face down the USC Trojans in the annual dual meet battle. Both teams come into the meet with top caliber national athletes and team rankings and the outcome will undoubtedly come down to the wire.

The hammer will be contested on Friday beginning at 3:00 pm with the women's competition (men to follow). Saturday's portion of the meet will get underway at 11:00 am on the field with the women's javelin and 11:55 am on the track with the women's 5000m. FSN PrimeTicket will broadcast the meet live beginning at 1:00 pm. Live stats will also be available on the UCLA website.

The USC men have a 41-33 all-time edge over the Bruins, while the UCLA women are 21-3 all-time against USC, including a current 15-0 win streak. With just one week until the post-season begins, both squads are prominently featured on the Pac-10 best marks list. USC has 14 men's marks and 18 women's marks ranked in the top-10 in the conference. UCLA has 30 men's and 18 women's top-10 conference marks.

Nationally, the Bruin men have eight marks ranking in the top-10 while USC has six. On the women's side UCLA has seven top-10 nationally ranked athletes while USC has six. Several athletes on both teams have not opened up in their prime events and the dual meet will see many of these athletes post their first outdoor marks of the season. For the Bruin women, Rhonda Watkins is slated to open up in the high jump, while Nicole Leach is entered in the 400m hurdles.

The Bruin men have not lost a home dual meet to USC since 1977, while the UCLA women have not lost since 1992. Last year, the Bruin women won 76-74, while the Trojan men won by a score of 84-79.

This weekend's competition will be the final home meet for a bevy of seniors, all of whom will be honored during the meet. Competing in their last home meet are - Chris Bencomo, John Caulfield, Greg Garza, Henry Hagenbuch, Zack Miller, Austin Ramos, Joel Tuosto, Elijah Wells, Keneisha Creary, Jolanda Diego, Nicole Duhart, Mary Hanley, DeShanta Harris, Ingrid Kantola, Kristi Kirst, Kathleen Mahony, Allie Miller, Claire Rethmeier, Georgea Richards, Leslie Rychel, Renee Williams, Merice Wisdom and Elizabeth Woepse.
