WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - For the second time this season and the fourth time in her career, junior GiOnna DiSalvatore was named Pacific-10 Conference Player of the Week on Monday. DiSalvatore had multiple hits in all three games last weekend at Arizona, going 7-for-9 for a .778 average with a home run, four RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and three walks. She had an .833 on base percentage and a 1.333 slugging percentage.

The Bruins earned three of the last four Pac-10 Player of the Week awards. Senior Megan Langenfeld received the award on April 26 and sophomore Andrea Harrison won the honor on May 3. It is the fourth Player of the Week accolade and fifth weekly honor of the season for the Bruins. DiSalvatore (player) and junior Donna Kerr (pitcher) received their respective awards on Feb. 23. UCLA has now earned 61 Pac-10 Player of the Week honors, with DiSalvatore posting her first two as a freshman in 2008 (Feb. 12 and 26).

On Thursday, DiSalvatore scored the Bruins' first run, drawing a leadoff walk, moving up two bases on a wild pitch and sacrifice bunt and then scoring on another wild pitch to make it 1-0. She later singled in the third inning and doubled in the fifth.

On Friday, the junior again walked in her first at-bat and then hit a two-out, solo home run in the third to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead. In the fifth, DiSalvatore produced a one-out single up the middle to score UCLA's third run.

DiSalvatore had a perfect end to her regular season on Saturday. After singling in the first inning and doubling in the third, she came up with the bases loaded and two outs in the fourth. DiSalvatore stroked a single up the middle to record two RBI, and when the ball went all the way to the wall on an error, a third Bruin run came home as DiSalvatore took third. Arizona showed DiSalvatore respect in her fourth at-bat, walking her intentionally in the sixth, but she would come around to score the Bruins' fifth run later in the inning, which proved to be the game-winner.

DiSalvatore is second on the team with a .399 batting average, 45 runs batted in and a .458 on base percentage. She is also first with 44 runs scored and 16 doubles, adding eight home runs, a .649 slugging percentage and 20 walks.

The Bruins received a #5 national seed for the NCAA Tournament on Sunday and will host the Regional round at Easton Stadium. Joining UCLA in its Regional will be San Diego State, Fresno State and Saint Mary's. Friday's schedule will feature San Diego State against Fresno State at 3 p.m. and UCLA against Saint Mary's at 5:30 p.m. The winners of Friday's games will play the first contest on Saturday at 1 p.m., while the losers will play on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The remaining of the schedule is listed below.
