Golfers Finish Second at U.S. Collegiate Championship

The UCLA men's golf team climbed to second place in the final standings of the U.S. Collegiate Championship, hosted by Georgia Tech at The Golf Club of Georgia.

The Bruins posted a final round team score of 291 (+3), one of the day's best scores, and finished at 892 (+28), eight shots behind first-place Georgia. The second-ranked Bulldogs posted a final round score of 293 (+5) and finished with a 54-hole total of 884 (+20). Wake Forest placed third at 894 (+30), followed by Georgia Tech and Georgia State at 986 (+32).

Individually for the Bruins, junior Kevin Chappell tied for sixth place at four-over par 220 after posting a final round score of 72 (E). The Fresno, Calif. native was two-under par until bogeys at the 13th and 16th holes brought him back to par. Chappell, ranked 20th nationally prior to the event, defeated No.4 Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State, No. 6 Kyle Stanley of Clemson and No. 1 Jamie Lovemark of USC, among others. Chappell's finish was his fourth straight Top 10 result.

Sophomore Lucas Lee tied for 10th place at 222 (+6) after carding a 73 (+1) in the final round. Junior Daniel Im posted a 72 (E) on Wednesday and tied for 20th at 225 (+9). Junior Craig Leslie and freshman Jason Kang each posted scores of 74 (+2) in the last round. Leslie tied for 24th at 226 (+10) and Kang tied for 48th at 230 (+14).
